What happens when over 1,300 people come together to create something entirely their own?
The Individuality Project – On Tour is a striking, large-scale exhibition of 1,300 unique ceramic figures—each one handmade in community workshops across Somerset. Together, they form a powerful visual representation of individuality, connection and shared humanity.
Commissioned by Seed and led by artist Bridget Hemmings, the Individuality Project brought people together through over 70 creative workshops. Participants of all ages and backgrounds shaped their own ceramic figures—each one reflecting a personal story, identity or moment in time.
Inspired by the work of Anthony Gormley, the project explores what it means to be an individual within a wider community. No two figures are the same, yet together they create something extraordinary.
Over 18 months, the project grew organically, driven by the enthusiasm and creativity of its participants. The result is more than an exhibition—it’s a collective portrait of a place and its people.
The Individuality Project is now available to tour from April 2026.
This flexible exhibition can be tailored to suit your space, audience and ambitions. Whether you’re a gallery, community venue, library or public space, we’ll work with you to create a meaningful and engaging experience.
