The Story of Sounds of Sedgemoor
Sounds of Sedgemoor grew from years of community-led music activity, shaped by the voices, experiences and creativity of people across the area. What began as individual groups meeting to play, sing and create gradually evolved into something more connected, as relationships formed and confidence grew. Musicians of all abilities came together through workshops, jam sessions and shared projects, building a supportive and collaborative music community.
As these groups developed, so did the ambition to capture their work in a lasting way. Sounds of Sedgemoor became an opportunity to bring those voices together into a professional recording, creating original music that reflects the identity and character of Sedgemoor. For many involved, it was their first experience of recording, offering a chance to take their creativity to the next level and see what was possible.
The project brought together a wide range of contributors, each with their own style and story, resulting in a rich and varied collection of songs. From tentative first sessions to confident performances in the studio, the journey has been as important as the final outcome.
