Artist Mell Turford is collecting stories of the history of Highbridge by speaking to members of the community. Through a series of conversations with groups in local venues such as St John’s Church and Highbridge Community Hub, and at events including the Highbridge Arts Festival, Mell will gather the history of the town through first hand accounts, poems and stories of the area. These stories will be compiled into 10 podcast episodes available for all to listen to.
The idea behind the project is to use a podcast as a way of collecting together an oral time capsule, both of past and current Highbridge. The podcast will be a resource for future generations to learn about the history of the town, a great way to capture the voices of every generation in Highbridge and perhaps even useful for those interested in looking into their genealogy.
