This community project has collected the stories and legends of Cheddar, worked with local school children to illustrate them, and local residents to carve them into lino and print them in the creation of folk banners for display in the town this summer.
Inkjam have engaged the older generation, the story holders, through coffee mornings and sharing sessions. The younger generation have been invited to illustrate these stories. In 10 free to attend workshops the illustrations were arranged and carved into lino, they are currently being stitched techniques to produce a series of flag banners that will be exhibited in and around Cheddar Village 21 April to 2 May. Followed by an exhibition of the banners stories and memorabilia at the Arts Quarter from 16 May.
A real community collaboration celebrating Cheddar’s stories.
