We are extending the deadline to find the right person to join the team. We are looking for a self-starting Communications and Admin Co-ordinator to deliver our communications activities including marketing and public relations, and to support our project delivery including leading on some small projects.

Seed Sedgemoor is based at the Engine Room Bridgwater, with flexible working conditions including partial working remotely (both in the field as required and if desired, from home). Weekend and evening work will be required with TOIL available.  The position is offered on a 35 hour per week, two-year contract to coincide with current ACE funding to April 2025. A salary of £25,480 p.a. is offered.

The new closing date is Monday 22nd May at 9am.

Do you remember the bed races of the 1980’s?

How about the 6ft sharks, pirhanas, and the seal living at the Marineland Aquarium next to The Bays pond?

Maybe you have heard the ghost horses on the Lippiatt?

All of these memories, stories and experiences of life in Cheddar have been collected, illustrated and shared in a series of folk banners made by the artists at Inkjam and members of the local community.

Vanessa and Liz have worked with Cheddar residents and community groups to recall the stories.  School children created  illustrations.  In a series of workshops people learned the skills of lino carving to print them.  Inkjam have stitched them into a series of banners now flying on the streets of Cheddar.

“It has been a wonderfully collaborative project, with different sectors of the local community having their parts in it. Storytelling from many older residents, who remember local events with their personal memories of them, to children hearing and illustrating these stories. A community of all ages and groups came together for ten carving and printing events which were so popular and brilliant fun. More residents helped to sew and hand stitch the banners.

They are now all hanging in different locations for everyone to enjoy and appreciate this truly inclusive and fun installation. They are bright, colourful and joyful banners, a testament to the amazing stories of the village and its characters, past and present. Thank you so much to all the many wonderful people who have been involved, we have loved every minute!”

Cheddar Folk Banners

Our Folk Banners are now up around Cheddar Village and Gorge until Tuesday 2 May. They have a QR Code placed next to each banner linking to the stories they illustrate. There will be an exhibition of all the banners, the linocuts, the children’s illustrations, the stories we have had the pleasure of hearing, and supporting memorabilia all at the Arts Quarter from 16 May- 11 June.

Moments of life in Cheddar past and present

Sit back and enjoy a moment from Cheddar Frequencies. Artist Richard Tomlinson has been working with residents from the Court House retirement home in Cheddar, the Mens Shed and with members of the public at workshops in Cheddar Library to make sound recordings that capture life in the Cheddar Valley past and present.
Each day in April Richard will be releasing another monologue which you can find

The legendary Clash lead Joe Strummer was a Broomfield resident adopting ‘rebel-town’ Bridgwater as his home town.  We invite you to celebrate his relationship with the town on International Clash Day with Seed’s Clashmob – Bring a guitar, bass or your voice and join in a pop-up performance of Clash songs in Bridgwater Town Centre (multiple locations) on 4 Feb 2023.

The songs are easy to play so all ability levels are welcome. Rehearsals start Jan 5, and weekly on Thurs eves at Bridgwater Arts Centre. Contact us to receive a copy of the music, locations and times.

Front Garden Music Festival returns to the public and private gardens of Sedgemoor on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th June 2023. Sedgemoor will come alive with the sound of local musicians performing for members of their community in different locations. In June 2022 the festival saw 40 acts perform in 10 different locations across the district from Axbridge and Cheddar to Bridgwater and Catcott, with plenty more locations in between. We’re really looking forward to 2023 and are looking for hosts and artists.

On Saturday 10 June Seed have secured two exciting locations. The festival will start in Cheddar at the Pavilion and move to a new location In central Bridgwater for the early evening.

Sunday 11 June Seed are seeking expressions of interest from bands and performers who would like to set-up their front gardens and perform to the community. Seed are also collaborating with Victoria Park Community Centre and the National Trust.

So, are you in a band or a musician/performer?
Do you have an act you would like to present?
We are looking for professional, semi professional and amateur performers to perform on one of our organised stages,  local pub or can you set up in your front garden?

Seed Sedgemoor is seeking expressions of interest from artists, groups and organisations to create an Augmented Reality artwork at Bridgwater Railway Station.

Seed Sedgemoor and Severnside Community Rail Partnership are working together to commission this ambitious site-specific work that will use augmented reality to engage  station users and visitors with a stimulating, engaging, safe and enjoyable art experience.

A new artwork for Burnham-on-sea

The new sea-wall art installation ‘Burnham-on-sea-life’ will be unveiled at 11am on 27 Nov 2022.

The artwork commissioned by Seed and created by mosaic artist Sveltana Kondakova Muir depicts 68 species of wildlife living above and below the waterline on this stretch of the Somerset Coast.

Join us in Burnham-On-Sea, Outside the Tourist Information Centre, by the Jetty for the formal reveal.
